Today is Gandhi Jayanti. A man who led us to freedom and whom we call ‘Father of the Nation’ was born today. On this special day, Eros Now tells you about 5 teachings of Gandhi which we all should follow.
Cheating on an exam, lying in court, giving fake promises to people… we’ve become so good at hiding the truth that finding it ourselves has become a challenge. We should all be true to ourselves and everyone around us.
Forget keeping the street clean, even basic levels of hygiene are not met by majority of us. To begin with, arguable the two things closest to us are also not that clean to begin with: our mind and heart.
Be it a war between two countries, a riot amongst difference religious communities, a violent protest on the streets, or a brawl at a bar – we seem to have taken the ‘actions speak louder than words’ theory, a bit too seriously. Non-violence bought down the British Empire, it certainly can break the barriers we’ve set up amongst ourselves.
We don’t have the patience and get agitated easily if our Internet goes off for 2 minutes. We pride ourselves to be the impatient generation, but in the process forget that patience is what keeps this world going in the first place.
Gandhiji said: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” But are we really learning anything at all? Sure, education levels may have gone up, but learning will happen when we try to treat everyone as equal, respect our surroundings and find the greater good in whatever we do.
Follow these 5 Gandhi principles and let’s make the world a better place. Watch Eros Now’s Gandhi tribute:
