Farhan set the bar pretty high with his spectacular performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Later, Priyanka pulled off a Farhan by portraying India’s celebrated female boxer, Mary Kom, to the best of her ability.
But we know that Priyanka and Farhan have always brought their ‘A-game’ when it comes to acting, and have dared to do things others would’t even dream of. Are other Bollywood actors ready to walk that extra mile and bring a famous sportsperson’s biopic to life on the big screen?
Saina Nehwal – Deepika Padukone
Deepika seems to be up for any challenge these days – and we’re sure she would love to play star female badminton player, Saina Nehwal.
Why? Because Deepika has played national level badminton in her teens, and being yesteryear’s badminton superstar, Prakash Padukone’s daughter, only helps. She looks fit, tall, sporty and ready to hit the court again.
She already seems excited about the role. Someone hand her a racket already!
P.S – Saina has already expressed that she wants Deepu to play her on celluloid!
Aamir Khan – Sachin Tendulkar
Who can play Master Blaster better than Master Perfectionist, Aamir Khan himself. The God of cricket meets the Indian God of acting, and we’re sure to experience fireworks when these two forces combine!
Look test? Aamir will pass it with flying colours.
The actor can get in to the skin of ANY character. We have proof:
Vijender Singh
He won India’s first ever boxing Olympic medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
But what India suddenly discovered was not only a national sports hero, but also a potential film hero. The boxer’s striking good looks automatically brought him into the limelight and in the eyes of many producers and directors.
This not coming as a surprise at all, the boxer made his Bollywood debut with Fugly this year.
No prizes for guessing then as to who’d do justice to this looker/boxer on screen – none other than Vijender Singh himself!
Before
After
PV Sindhu – Sonam Kapoor
In 2013, she became the first ever Indian woman to win a medal in singles at the Badminton World Championships. And she’s only 19. There’s a long way to go and many more milestones to achieve for this young player, and we feel (simply based on her height and physique), that Sonam Kapoor might be able to play her rather well on screen.
Yes, even Sonam was shocked that we felt she can carry off a female-centric, sports-oriented film by herself!
Don’t fool around with me!
Sushil Kumar – Salman Khan
The first Indian to win back-to-back Olympic medals in wrestling (both at Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012), Sushil Kumar has garnered innumerable accolades for India.
He’s India’s true sports superstar in every sense of the term, and the only Bollywood actor who personifies that kind of stardom and also does justice based on physicality, is none other than our very own, Salman Khan.
Koi ChiChi ko bolo, yeh role mujhe offer hua hai!
Humpy Koneru – Priyanka Chopra
She’s different. She’s also smart. After all, she’s India’s celebrated female chess player.
But who can portray her smartness coupled with those unconventional looks with ease? None other than our darling PC!
Who says Priyanka is only allowed to do one sports-oriented film? She can do ten, and we’d still watch each one. Just because she’s that good!
And guess what, PC has already (sorta) done the look test for Humpy in Barfi 😛
Sania Mirza – Parineeti Chopra
The first Indian (yes, she’s still very much Indian) woman to bring Indian women’s tennis into the limelight was the bold and beautiful Sania Mirza. And she still continues to make headlines with her strong opinions and more recently, her ALS Ice Bucket challenge that went viral online.
Whatever said and done, Sania is still a huge sports celebrity and a gutsy woman who welcomes both bouquets and brickbacks with equal enthusiasm!
Well, the only person we feel who can personify her courage, determination and feistiness on screen is none other the bundle of talent and Bollywood’s new IT girl – Parineeti Chopra.
I can play non-mental characters too, you know.
But then who are we kidding: Sania can play herself if she so wishes. Just look at her!
Abhinav Bindra – Arjun Kapoor
Abhinav Binda – India’s first ever Olympic gold medalist. ‘Nuff Said.
We suggest Punjabi puttar be played by another Punjabi puttar. So we’re going with Arjun Kapoor.
But Arjun seems to be apprehensive. He’s testing his eye sight to see if he can do justice to the role of a rifle shooter!
Yaar, bande ki kya nazar hai!
Mahesh Bhupati – Leander Paes : Shah Rukh Khan – Salman Khan
And finally, who would understand the on-and-off friendship between Mahesh and Leander better than SRK and Sallu? Both “couples” share a lot of things in common within each coupling: same profession, same friendship, same fights, same drama. Mahesh and Leander also have a Bollywood connection each, what with Leander acting in a movie called Rajdhani Express and Mahesh marrying Miss Universe-turned-actress, Lara Dutta.
This movie, if ever made, will knock it out of the park! We just can’t wait! Can you?
Haha Sonam Kapoor may be offended and her reaction is seriously. The badminton star is much more popular than Sonam Kapoor. :p
Like the concept..i appreciate dat…..
